Editorial Issue 275 Print Email

Positive Health PH Online January 2022 Issue 275 is published live on 9 Dec 2021 at a critical yet enigmatic juncture in the coronavirus pandemic – just weeks after the Omicron variant was detected.

At this point in time, it is known that there are about 30 mutations compared with the original virus, the majority in the Spike protein region. It appears to be significantly more transmissible than the currently dominant Delta virus; however it is not presently known whether the virus is more virulent, or whether it can evade the immune responses triggered by vaccines. So until more research reveals precise data, we all need to patiently await reliable answers or else play Russian roulette or predict à la Mystic Med.

Here is a brief sample of alternative viewpoints about Covid-19:

PH Online Issue 275 epitomizes how a fully integrated healthcare model is critical to our health and wellbeing. We have, in my view, apparently gone backwards from the 1990s and early 2000s when steps were initiated to place complementary therapies within a voluntary self-regulatory framework for Complementary Therapies. In its place, The CNHC –Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council –  independent UK regulator for complementary healthcare practitioners was set up with government support to protect the public by providing a UK voluntary register of health practitioners. CNHC's register has been approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, a body accountable to Parliament.

In 2021 it is apparent for all to see that Complementary Therapies have all but disappeared from the news media and public discourse, particularly regarding clinically viable approaches to Covid-19 other than pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines, as published in Letters to the Editor Issue 275 - Vitamin C Intervention for Critical COVID-19: A Pragmatic Review of the Current Level of Evidence and Summary of Recent Research with Three Nutrients in the War Against Cancer.
