Needless to say, in light of my prior scientific training, I have become addicted to and transfixed by the daily scientific COVID-19 briefings and have fallen under the spell of confusing, possibly misleading statistics regarding:
- Basic sero-biology, number of viral strains
- Causes of wide differences in viral lethality
- Genetic predisposition to infection
- Reliability or otherwise of testing techniques;
- COVID-19 mortality reporting
- Infection and mortality rates of infection.
Due to the Catch-22 of not knowing whether someone dies with COVID-19 or dies due to COVID-19 and the necessity of quick burial with virtually no witnesses, there has presumably not been the opportunity to carry out detailed autopsies. Therefore it is entirely possible that we will only know how many people have been infected and how many died from COVID-19 when comprehensive antibody testing has been carried out to survey the entire population. Although this has been discussed from early on in this epidemic, this project has receded into the background. As has been said in the past, and is apt today, There are Lies, Dammed Lies and Coronavirus Statistics.
In the parallel yet all subsuming world (for me) of Positive Health PH Online Issue 262, the articles published herein have once again, almost magically, presented themselves as being highly relevant, indeed prescient about our Coronavirus Lockdown.
In the first instance, the Cover Story Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Coronavirus COVID-19 arrived just prior to start of production.
“According to Xinhua, the biggest and most influential media organization in China, "Western medicine offers important life-supporting measures such as respiratory and circulatory assistance, while TCM focuses on improving patients' physical conditions and immune function. They complement each other," said Zhang Boli, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
“Recently Wuhan's coronavirus control headquarters ordered integrated treatment of TCM and Western medicine, especially among non-critical patients, and observation of TCM's curative effects at designated hospitals. Statistics show that 2,220 medics from TCM hospitals and institutions across China have been sent to aid the epidemic fight in Hubei so far. Over 75 percent of COVID-19 patients are receiving TCM treatment in Hubei and over 90 percent in other parts of China.”
Also published in Issue 262 Letters to the Editor is important recipe for The Chinese Herbal Formula that Combats 2019 Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia – Qing Fei Pai Du Tang.
“There are a few Chinese herbal formulas that have risen to the top of the Chinese experience of treating this Coronavirus and its progression into the deeper and gravely serious COVID 19 pneumonia. One of the star formulas to emerge from this massive experience is the Qing Fei Pai Du formula. The formula QFPDT was applied in the battle against COVID 19, but it’s unavailable in the USA as a formula because the US FDA (Food & Drug Administration) has severe restrictions on the sale of Ma Huang and has made Xi Xin a banned herb. The formula with 2 substitutes (for the banned herbs) and all the rest of its other 19 ingredients can be separately sourced and blended.”
Also published within Issue 262 Letters to the Editor is a comprehensive and authoritative table, listing Published Research and Articles on Vitamin C for Pneumonia, Lung Infections, and the Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19), displaying the clinical treatment approaches of IV and Oral Vitamin C to numerous pathologies accompanying COVID-19.
The burgeoning critical mass of clinically effective treatment approaches alternative to a vaccine or pharmaceutical such as oral and IV Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Chinese and Western Herbs, is the obvious screaming out omission to media and professional coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic.[9-13]

An article affecting millions of colour-blind people is Pictures Show How Colour Blind People See the World while taking on an importance for COVID-19 symptoms of losing a sense of small if the feature Anosmia – Smell Loss – Effects upon People’s Lives.
Editorial features which illuminate nutritional, hormonal and Ayurvedic approaches to optimal health include How to Lower High Blood Pressure, Eat for Immunity, Food Trends Change Over the Past 25 Years, Unravelling the Mysteries of Hormones and Diabetes/Prameha in Ayurveda.
